The perfect extension for your accuracy requirements

The measured values that the coordinate measuring machine records depend on how well the probe system perceives the surface properties. The stylus picks up the data directly from the component and transmits them to the probe head via the extensions and the adapter plate. Therefore, as part of the overall probe system, extensions have a significant influence on measuring uncertainty. For touch trigger sensors - such as the M2 and M3 systems - the extensions are still made of metal, as the material has little effect on the measurement uncertainty compared to scanning technology. For tactile scanning sensors, ZEISS REACH CFX carbon fiber extensions are very useful in every segment, whether they are entry level or designed for maximum precision. Titanium and aluminum are older technology. Because ZEISS REACH CFX carbon fiber extensions are not only light and stable in length, but also resistant to bending and torsion. This reduces deviations by up to five times and helps to prevent expensive wrong decisions due to inaccurate measuring results.

The three versions of the extensions, ZEISS REACH CFX 1, CFX 3 and CFX 5, are tailored budget levels and accuracy requirements of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs). CFX 1 is on par with extensions made of titanium or aluminum in terms of price, but performs significantly better than metal in terms of precision. CFX 3 has a significantly higher accuracy compared to the CFX 1 extensions. ZEISS REACH CFX 5 rounds off the portfolio and meets the highest technical requirements.
